Retailers Offering Rebate Check Deals

Big retailers like Wal-Mart, Sears and Home Depot are hoping to attract shoppers with various deals and discounts as the Treasury Department begins rolling out $152 billion in tax rebate checks.

Beginning May 2, 2008, grocery store retailer Kroger will offer customers the option of exchanging their rebate checks for a gift card with an extra 10 percent tacked on. That bonus means a $100 rebate check would equal a $110 gift card.
