The Cowboys have released kick returner Allen Rossum four weeks after he injured his hamstring the only time he touched the ball for Dallas.
The Dallas native was signed to handle kickoff and punt returns before the Atlanta game in October. He was hit hard returning the first kickoff by the Falcons and didn't return.
Rossum became expendable when Patrick Crayton returned a punt for a touchdown against the Falcons and did it again a week later against Seattle.
Felix Jones became the primary kickoff returner when he came back from a knee injury.
Cornerback Cletis Gordon was signed Monday to take Rossum's spot on the roster.
