Dallas Stars Extend Contract With Coach Tippett

DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ― The Dallas Stars have signed head coach Dave Tippett to a two-year contract extention. Tippett's contract now extends through the 2010-2011 season.

In six years with the Stars, Tippett has a 235-127-48 record, which the Stars note is the best record of any active coach in the NHL. The Stars have advanced to the playoffs in every season under Dave Tippett.

In a statement by the team, Stars Co-General Manager Les Jackson stated, "Dave Tippett has done an exceptional job as head coach of this hockey club. We are looking forward to getting back to work in preparation for the 2008-09 season."

Co-General Manager Brett Hull added, "Dave has proven to be a great leader on the Stars bench and we are pleased to have him under contract for the next three seasons."
