Dirk Nowitzki has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week. This marks the ninth time that the Dallas Mavericks forward has earned the honor.
The title includes games played between November 17 and November 23. During that time span, Nowitzki led the team a perfect 3-0 week, beating out Charlotte, Houston and Memphis. Dallas won by an average of 13 points per game.
Nowitzki averaged 27 points and 10 rebounds per game, shooing .466 from the field, .500 from three-point range and .923 from the line.
Throughout the season, Nowitzki ranks fourth in the NBA in scoring, seventh in free throws and seventh in free throw percentage (tied). He also leads his team in scoring, rebounds and minutes per game.
The Mavs did not have a Player of the Week throughout all of last season. Nowitzki is the first Mavs player to receive the title since he was named the Player of the Week on March 1, 2007.
