Dirk Gets His 10th 'Player Of The Week' Honor

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Dirk Nowitzki has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks. This marks the tenth time that the Dallas Mavericks forward has earned the honor.

The title includes all games played between December 1 and December 7. During that time span, Nowitzki and the Mavs started a season-long seven-game home stand, winning three games against the Los Angeles Clippers, the Phoenix Suns and the Atlanta Hawks. This extended the team's four-game winning streak.

Nowitzki averaged nearly 31 points and 10 rebounds per game, shooing about 52 percent from the field, 44 percent from three-point range and 100 percent from the free throw line.

During the game against Phoenix, Nowitzki scored 39 points, tying his season high.

Throughout the entire season, Nowitzki now ranks fourth in the NBA in scoring, seventeenth in rebounds and fifth in free throw percentage. He also leads his team in scoring, rebounds and minutes per game.

The Mavs did not have a Player of the Week throughout all of last season.
