Modano Plans To Stick With Stars Next Season

FRISCO (CBS 11 News) ― Dallas Stars center Mike Modano said Wednesday that he expects to be back on the ice with the team for his 19th season next year.

Co-general manager Brett Hull said that Modano is "too good" to leave the game. Modano is the NHL's all-time leading goal-scorer and point leader among American born players, and was with the Dallas Stars when they won the Stanley Cup in 1999.

The Stars lost their chance at this season's Stanley Cup on Monday night when they were eliminated from the Western Conference finals in a 4-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings.

Modano has been with the Stars since 1989, when the franchise was still in Minnesota.

Modano said that, as long as he feels as though he is contributing to the team and having fun, he will continue to play.

However, the 37-year-old did leave open the possibility that he could change his mind over the summer.
