Texas Motor Speedway To Add Motorcoach Area
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
Officials with the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth announced plans on Monday to create a lavish $2 million area along the backstretch designed for motorcoach parking.
The new area, called Burnout Alley, is set to feature 74 large parking spaces built for race fans traveling or entertaining in their motorcoaches at the raceway.
Each courtyard spot within Burnout Alley will measure 30 feet by 60 feet and include numerous amenities such as 24 hour restroom access, live race feeds, full service hook-ups for water and electric, a free wireless internet connection, concierge service including grocery shopping and caterting options.
Parking spots in Burnout Alley are priced at $15,000 for the entire race season.
"Our demand for motor home space - even this year during the downturn economy - has continued to rise each and every year, and our fans have indicated to us that there was a need for this type of project," Texas Motor Speedway president Eddie Gossage said Monday. "We pride ourselves at Texas Motor Speedway for providing what our fans want as well as our creativity, and Burnout Alley is a product of both."
Since the upper half of the current backstretch is being converted into the new area, approximately 21,022 seats will be eliminated by construction. This moves the venue's overall seating capacity to 138,100, which still ranks Texas Motor Speedway among the largest sports facilities in the nation.
Construction on Burnout Alley is set to be completed in March, just before the start of the Samsung 500 NASCAR Race Week on April 2.
