The Yankees are in the process of turning the Phillies into roadkill in this "Turnpike Series" and Yankees fans say it's well worth being tired in the morning.
"Exhausted is not the word. My voice has changed. Life is good in Yankee-land. This is not New York City. This is Yankee City," said fan Angel Martinez to CBS station WCBS-TV.
Martinez was not alone, staying up until midnight to watch that thrilling ninth inning rally as the Yankees tightened the noose around Philadelphia. The Bombers are now just one game away from their 27th World Series title.
"It's only one time of the year. It's well worth it. No doubt tonight's the night. If not, we'll do it in Game 6," said fan Swarna Chatterjee.
Another fan, Yvonne Rivera, said she's going to watch Monday night's game, and that her boss will understand. "Yes, he's very understanding and he's a huge fan."
Lavar Pressley proudly showed CBS 2HD his tattoo. "It's a Yankee logo with the Empire State Building on it." When asked if it was worth it, he answered: "Definitely. Love it. One more win. That's it."
And while some Yankees fans say it would be nice to bring it all home with a win in their new stadium in Game 6, it's better to go with the momentum and clinch it tonight.
"It's exciting the Yankees are going to get it done tonight. Nice to get it over with, win their 27th world championship. Stay up and watch that," said fan Carl Boudakian.
The Yankees are just 27 outs before they could win their 27 World Series Championship and fans say that's a great place to be.
