Turn Clothes You Don't Wear Anymore Into Cash
ARLINGTON (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
Ceclia Garcia knows what it's like to lose everything.
"It's sad. It's hard right now," she said. "We lost our car and we lost our home."
After she and her husband lost their jobs, they were forced to move into the Budget Suites in Grand Prairie with their two children. They're still having a hard time making ends meet.
"I told my husband, 'You know what? We've got a lot of stuff in storage we can probably get rid of and make some money off of that,'" she said.
That's when she discovered the Back To The Rack resale boutique in Arlington.
"We really feel good that we're helping in that respect," said the boutique's owner Tracey Williams.
Williams pays cash for women's clothes, shoes and accessories.
"We see all groups, all styles, all ages," she said.
Williams says the troubled economy has led to a 20 to 30 percent increase in her business. Not just from sellers, but also from bargain hunting shoppers.
"I had a customer say one time that she replaced her Target wardrobe with Ann Taylor and didn't go over her budget," Williams said.
Garcia has made about $200 at the resale shop over the last couple of months. "You can ask my kids. I stretch that $200 dollars as far as I can," she said. "I make that last a good two to three weeks."
Joey Garcia knows it's tough on his mom, especially when she had to sell her wedding rings. But he doesn't take it for granted. "Thank you and I love her," he said.
