Mom Of Six Saving Tons By Finding Coupons Online
Pam Harris
DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
Many North Texans are finding ways to cut back just to survive.
Whether it's clipping coupons or using the internet to find the best deals, there are ways to save.
"We're choosing to have friends over instead of going out for dinner and do more swap out play dates at each others houses and then we're coming to the park today," said Adrienne Hennessey, a mother of six.
Hennessey has planted a garden and is changing her shopping habits by buying in bulk for groceries and shopping 'forward' for clothing.
"If they're 4, I look at the 5-year-old stuff that's on sale and out of season," said Hennessey. "I think I've cut my clothing budget in half by doing that."
She saves on diapers by only using cloth diapers.
"You can cloth diaper an infant for about $130 for a total set up of cloth diapers. A bigger kid cost about $150 and you're set."
Web sites like
CouponMom.com help you find great grocery deals.
"Those sites take the coupon in each Sunday paper and match them to the sales that are in the store so you get a rock-bottom price," she said.
And
e-mealz.com can help you create a meal for less.
"They take the sale items that goes on at the stores, and they take those and make a menu out of the sale prices," Hennessey said.
Restaurant coupons can also be found on the internet.
"Go to your favorite websites for the restaurants that you frequent most, get on their email list and many times they'll send you free appetizers and buy-one-get-one free meals," she suggested.
