Today at the youth livestock auction a championship bull was sold for $96,000. The live stock area alone has a lot of activities that are free.
From street acts to the concert area, the dog shows, exhibits and the nightly parade are all free with admission.
Food can get pricey if you're sampling the fair fare, but you can save money by bringing in your own food and drinks. The rules prohibit any glass, aluminum cans or metal utensils - only plastic is allowed but you can bring your own food into the State Fair of Texas.
