"Survivor" Player Alleges Bonaduce Injured Him
LOS ANGELES (CBS) ―
A "Survivor: Pearl Islands" contender who alleges Danny Bonaduce injured him during a reality TV awards show should not be allowed to move forward with his lawsuit against the program's producers, their
attorneys maintain.
Jon "Jonny Fairplay" Dalton says Bonaduce body-slammed him, leaving
him bloodied, with injuries to his mouth, teeth, gums and feet. According to Dalton, the red-headed, former "Partridge Family" bass player came on stage, picked him up over his head and slammed him face-down Oct. 2 during taping of the "Really Awards."
Dalton sued Oct. 9 in Los Angeles Superior Court, naming as defendants
Bonaduce and show producers Fox Reality Channel and Natural 9 Entertainment.
In a revised lawsuit filed June 2, lawyers for Dalton maintain that
Carol Sherman -- a Fox Reality Channel executive and the founder of Natural 9 Entertainment -- was among those who gave instructions to a "Really Awards" show employee who "choreographed the attack by defendant Bonaduce."
But in court papers filed Tuesday in support of a bid by the producers
to be dismissed as defendants in the case, their attorneys say Bonaduce turned away and was walking off the stage when Dalton called out to him: "Hey, Danny."
When Bonaduce turned around, Fairplay made a "running jump" onto
Bonaduce, after which the former child star -- and bodybuilder -- allegedly
lifted Dalton up and threw him over his head, the producers' court papers
state.
As for Sherman, she did not know Bonaduce was going to go on stage and was "mortified" about what happened afterward, the producers' court papers state.
A hearing on the producers' motion is scheduled Nov. 7.
As a child, Bonaduce was part of the cast of "The Partridge Family"
television series in the 1970s. Now 48 and mostly a radio personality, Bonaduce starred in "Breaking Bonaduce," a 2005 reality show on VH1.
