Say goodbye to the action figures and cuddly dolls of yesterday, toy stores have updated their shelves for generation tech.
"We've really changed our assortment. We have iPods now in the store. We have PCs and laptops that are real for kids," said David Humpl, store manager for Toys R Us.
The more real it is, the more kids want it. That's why Toys R Us managers say even Piggy Banks have gone high tech.
Little girls can have their own ATM cards just like their moms. The pink touch screen ATM is one of their hottest sellers at $49.99. It actually recognizes bills, coins, and requires a special card for transactions. You'll also have to remind your girls not to forget their pin numbers.
Looking for an inexpensive and high quality computer for your savvy child?
Toys R Us has the Asus Eee laptop computer. It only weighs two pounds and has a cute little carrying case. Even with its small size, it does all the basics, and sells out fast at the low price of $269.99.
"A lot of moms come in here and shop and say that my kids are already doing web pages and everything else," said David Humpl, store manager for Toys R Us.
If that's you, then your child might be interested in the $24.99 I-Carly Web Cam. It is just like your web camera, except with a colorful design for children.
Has your child always wanted a scooter? The iMod from Razor might get a wow out of your little techy this holiday. It's an update from your usual ride, with an FM radio and speakers that even connect to your iPod.
There are other toys that seem a little more like a gadget for the special forces. The Eyeclops Night Vision Goggles let you see in the dark using infrared. They cost $69.99. But watch out mom and dad; this means your kids can get into all sorts of trouble while your fast asleep!

If your child wants to do the dancing himself, the U-Dance gaming system from Hasbro might be the perfect present. The electronic sensors that are placed on their hands and feet allow for free movement, which is reflected on the television screen. Endless hours of moving and groving for $59.99.
In terms of book selection, toddlers will always prefer mom and dad reading to them. But when you need a time out, they can keep on learning thanks to technology. There is a huge assortment of electronic books, but the best seller is the Tag System by Leapfrog. Your child just points the electronic pen to the word on the page and it actually reads to them. It costs $49.99.
