Mock Election Website Has Peanuts Characters As Candidates

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― Forget Obama and McCain. Peanuts characters Charlie Brown, Linus, Sally, Lucy and Snoopy are the candidates on an online ballot at www.peanutsrocksthevote.com.

The occasion: a mock election marking the DVD release of "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown."

Fans young and old -- and costumed Peanuts characters -- were in Los Angeles to celebrate the release of the short on DVD.

The actor who voiced Charlie Brown in the television specials also was on hand for the celebrations.

Peter Robbins was only 9 at the time and can't believe Snoopy and the gang have been a "national treasure" for than four decades.
