Being Single doesn't Mean "Unhappy" during the Holidays.

It doesn't matter if you're single
. Your relationship status has no bearing on whether or not you'll be in good spirits.

If you're going to be happy this holiday season, you'll be that way regardless of whether you're in a relationship · If you're single, YOU get to decide who you're buying presents for. · YOU get to decide which party invitations to accept. · YOU can choose to spend the days surrounding Christmas with family, or you can go to a warm, tropical locale instead. · One thing that can tend to fall to the wayside when you're living on your own as a single person at least as a young single man or women. is putting forth the effort to be in the "holiday spirit," at least when it comes to things like Christmas trees and house/apartment decorations.
Discover what brings you joy and do a lot of it.
· Giving to others? · Playing, dancing, partying, entertaining, or family gatherings. · It's different for everyone, but do what you love to do, and lots of it. · Go to the party and be the party! JOY IS VERY ATTRACTIVE and it can make a big difference on how you spend next year's holidays.
Decide what to say when family or friends ask: "What happened to so and so."

· Figure out what is the essence of this season for you? For me, it's about the joy of celebration. Guess what the essence of maintaining successful relationships is. It's about the joy and celebration of who you are and who others are, and also about giving with joy. · The more you love who you are and what you are doing, the more wonderful things and people will be drawn to you. · Remember, "You have a unique gift to giveyou!" There are some wonderful advantages to being single during the holidays.
· No arguments in the car about who said something stupid to whom at the family party · You can go shopping and completely avoid Home Depot and the golf store. Plus, you can hit every store you want without hearing the whine, "Do we have to go in here?" · Spending less money and anxiety on trying to find that "perfect gift." You can buy myself something instead. · More time to spend with my family and friends, and less stress trying to juggle multiple families and expectations. · You can spend however much you want, have dinner wherever you want and spend Christmas wherever you want, rather than spending time with people out of obligation. · You don't have to watch the Christmas football games. Instead you can sit down with a glass of red wine and watch the "What Not to Wear" marathon all afternoon. · You have more energy and time to put into doing good in the community. Last Christmas morning, I volunteered to serve food at a local restaurant that put on a huge spread for homeless people in town. It made me so grateful for everything that I have in life which is a lot.
