21 Tips For A Holiday Makeover
1. To create vertical curls, use a large barrel curling iron vertically.
2. Straight hair should not be flat to the head anymore. Use a round brush at the crown of your head to give your hair volume. Use a flat iron only at the ends.
3. Teasing hair is back in for a festive look. The difference between today and years past (60's and 80's) is that you want to smooth your hair out after you tease it with a fine tooth comb. This gives fine hair more volume and heavy, thick hair more height.
4. When selecting products to use when finishing styled hair, remember that products that feel smooth and glossy will create a soft natural look, while products that have a tacky or firmer feel offer more hold and pliability. Choose wisely!
5. Always keep a light weight aerosol on hand for setting up dos like AVEDA's Air Control.
6. Carry bobby pins with you. If your hair gets flat during the evening, pin up sections for an effortless up do. To add drama, use a volumizing product.
7. Remember your tools count. You need a good blow dryer with a nozzle to smooth hair and a ceramic round brush to add volume.
8. A ceramic straightening iron will smooth the ends.
9. With the emergence of extensions and hair pieces, hair is more fun than ever! To get your fresh look, have your stylist add a piece of colorful hair to your up do or style to add flair to your holiday hair! Stylists can use these pieces to create many different effects to fit the most traditional to the most imaginative.
10. One idea is to use hair pieces to create a look that appears to have a colorful scarf holding your hair up or back! This look is fun, beautiful, sophisticated and fresh!
11. Use a simple black headband and add some simple rhinestones to give a festive flair.
12. Remember it is time to think about fall shades in hair color. You may want to add lo-lights to give your hair depth this season.
HOLIDAY MAKE-UP
13. Start with a cleansed, exfoliated & moisturized face.
14. Choose one feature on your face to high-light like your eyes or lips, not both.
15. If you choose your eyes, think in threes: dark, medium and light. Encircle the eye with a medium tone and blend edges softly. Next, highlight the brow bone with a light shade, shimmer or matte. A smoky eyed look works best with the darkest tone connecting the upper and lower lash lines very close to the lashes. Don't forget to fill in those brows with a shade that is slightly lighter than your brow color using an eye definer brush.
16. If you choose lips, choose a brighter shade for evening and follow these steps for lasting color:
Exfoliate
Foundation
Powder
Line
Lipstick
Powder
Lipstick
Gloss
This may seem over the top but these lips will stay colorful!
17. Party lashes or event lashes last one day only, but are a fraction of the cost of eye lash extensions. These lashes are placed at the outside edge and are longer then what you have naturally, and they give a great dramatic and fun look.
18. For evening, create a dewy look by using a liquid shimmer product such as "Inner Light" for your face and "Decollete" gives you a natural glow.
19. Don't forget those fingers and toes! Red is still the color of choice, but you can let them sparkle!
20. Remember to bring to necessities to the party like light face powder, lip gloss and bobby pins just in case.
21. The most important accessory is your smile!
