1. Ask for referrals for a make-up artist from family and friends you trust and whose look you like and ask to see some of the make-up artist's work. 2. Prepare to spend about 1 ½- 2 hours to do the make-up lesson. 3. The cost is $200.00 for a make-up lesson. 4. Ask plenty of questions and have notepad to take notes. 5. The artist will go through all your skincare, make-up, brushes, and make-up tools. She'll look for old make-up and outdated colors, lipsticks and lipglosses that smell bad, and products that have never been used. She will also check out your make-up brushes and any make-up tools you have to make sure they're in good shape. 6. The artist and the client will decide what needs to be trashed. 7. The artist and client will decide what needs to be salvaged from the client's products. Once this phase is completed, we on to actual application. 8. The artist will clean and moisturize the client's face using skincare products salvaged from client (if any) and new products that the artist suggests for client. 9. Artist will start with a Daytime look. The artist will apply make-up to ½ of the client's face. 10. Artist will apply concealer, foundation, powder, and bronzer (if necessary). Artist will use appropriate brushes and tools. Always blend downward the way the hair grows on your face. 11. Artist will apply powder or cream cheekcolor and show client correct application and tools to use. Always blend downward. 12. Artist will apply lipstick, lipgloss, and lip pencil. Line lips after lipstick. 13. Artist will apply eye make-up to clients eye. Always using windshield wiper motions to apply shadow on the eyelid and short small strokes across lashline to apply eyeliner. 14. Artist will tweeze and reshape client's eyebrows if needed and teach client how to maintain the new brow shape. Artist will then fill in clients eyebrow appropriate brow product (i.e. shadow, pencil, or brow groomer). 15. Client will apply make-up to the other ½ of her face and repeat back to artist all instructions on application previously said. 16. Artist will show client how to achieve an evening look by adding to the daytime look on ½ of clients face. 17. Client will repeat on other ½ of her face. 18. Artist will address any of client's questions and concerns. Make the client an instructional face chart to keep and refer back to. 19. We'll make a shopping list of new products client needs. 20. Artist will show client how to wash and clean make-up brushes properly. Also, tell client how often make-up brushes need to be cleaned (once a month is good, twice a month is better, and three times a month is best). 21. Artist will go shopping for or with the client to purchase the new products the client needs. If the artist shops for client alone, she either personally deliver products to the client or have them sent to the client.
