Dallas-Based Pizza Hut Looking For Summer Twintern
DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
If a sign were posted it might read "Wanted summer employee who loves to 'Tweet' and eat!" Some are calling it the hottest creation out of Dallas-based Pizza Hut.
One might think the position would be concerning a new pie, but it's not, it's a viable job. The company is looking for a "twintern".
Pizza Hut is tapping into the popularity of the hot social networking website Twitter and is looking for someone who's willing to 'Tweet' for The Hut.
"As young people, we really like that technology because we feel more connected to people and to companies," said UTA student Laura Perez. "So it feels like they're [Pizza Hut] actually paying attention to younger people by doing that."
The 'twinternship' program runs through the summer. The intern will not only post messages on Twitter but also gain real work experience while assisting the Public Relations team at Pizza Hut headquarters.
And the 'topping' is it's a paid gig!
"It's a great opportunity for young people to have an opportunity to work as part of our marketing team and see what it's like to work inside the world's largest pizza company," said the Pizza Hut VP of Marketing, Bob Kraut.
The senior PR manager at Pizza Hut, Chris Fuller, is currently 'tweeting' on behalf of the brand. The 'twintern' will begin June 1. Candidates must be a university junior or senior, studying for a B.A. or B.S.
Pizza Hut is taking 'twintern' applications through May 15th.
