Argument Leads To Parker County School Lockdown

SPRINGTOWN (CBS 11 News) ―

A domestic argument in Parker County led to the morning lockdown of all schools in the Springtown ISD.

According to officials, a mother and father got into an argument while dropping their children off at Watson Elementary, in the 300 block of East 5th Street. The mother called 911 and the father, who had a gun, left the scene.

The man was later spotted a few blocks from the school. Police alerted administrators to the situation and all Springtown schools were placed on lockdown – forbidding anyone to enter or leave.

Police located the gun the man had been carrying around 11:30 a.m. and the lockdown order was lifted shortly after.

Area schools have been given a description of the man. While the suspect's name hasn't been released, police say he has a criminal past and may still be armed with a knife.

No one was injured during the incident and police continue to search for the suspect.

Springtown is located about 30 miles northwest of Fort Worth in Parker County.
