Xochitl Parra, 17, began giving birth while taking a shower, but didn't panic. Instead, after giving birth, she walked the baby four blocks to the hospital, the baby's umbilical cord still attached.

Talk about the baby not timing his arrival well. A pregnant teen found herself giving birth while taking a shower last week.
And authorities said that the cool and collected teen then walked, and ran, four blocks to the hospital, the baby still attached by its umbilical cord.
The new mother, Xochitl Parra, is being praised by medical workers for
keeping a cool head. (Hasn't she ever seen numerous sitcoms where panic and wackiness is supposed to ensue?)
Hospital staff said Parra is wise beyond her years. She properly swaddled the child as she walked, and ran, down alleys and streets to the lobby at St. Mary's Hospital.
"I was just a little bit nervous," the 17-year-old Long Beach Poly High student told the Press-Telegram.
The baby, doctors said, is normal and "eating like a champ."
Parra said she could not call for an ambulance because her phone had been disconnected, and was afraid to ask neighbors for help during the 5:30 a.m. call from nature. "It was too early and I was worried about what they would think."
The girl told the Press-Telegram that she "felt his head coming out, so I sit down and pushed so his head would come out," the new mom told the newspaper. "I was just thinking about what to do and that's what came to my mind so that's what I did."
Parra said her mom will help raise the baby.
