Man Wrestles, Subdues Deer At Md. Home

It was anything but a peaceful Saturday morning for Pete Castle who lives in Monrovia, in Frederick County, Md.
Just after 10:20 a.m. EDT, a female deer came crashing through Castle's kitchen window and the fight was on. Panicked and bleeding from cuts, the doe ran through the living room.
"She tried to get out of the patio window, then fell back on the couch. I jumped on top of her and held her down; she kept fighting," he told CBS station WJZ-TV's Richard Sher.
Castle yelled for his grandson James to bring him a rope.
"First we tied her back paws, then her front. The fight was over."
Police and animal control officers came to the house and put the deer out of her misery.
"I just did what I thought I had to do," he said.
Bob Buyer of the Maryland Wildlife and Heritage Service says the mating season ended in November and that this event was quite rare.
When the deer hunting season ends at the end of January, it's predicted as many as 100,000 deer will have ben harvested.
