Bushes Searching For Home In Preston Hollow

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― President Bush and his wife are house hunting in North Texas and they may have narrowed their choices to one exclusive Dallas neighborhood.

CBS 11 News has learned that a handful of homes in prestigious Preston Hollow are on the first family's short list.

A recent New York Post gossip columnist claims, "I know for a 100-percent fact that Mr. and Mrs. Bush will move to a town outside Dallas called Preston Hollow."

What? We asked taxi cab driver Aj Ahmmad to help us find this new Texas town. "There's no Preston Hollow," he explained.

The rumors also say that the house comes with horse stables, lake and mountain views. Wrong again. There are no mountains in Dallas, only a mountain of brick on some of the homes on the Bush wish list that CBS 11 News obtained.

We toured some of the homes on the list. Rusty Tucker and his wife are hoping the Bushes trade in their white brick for red in a nearby three-story, two acre, 14,000 square foot home.

"We'd love to have the Bushes here," Tucker said. "I've been a long time supporter and it would be a neat story."

Another listing the Bushes are considering is on Strait Lane and costs more than $17 million.  The 14,000 square foot home has eight bedrooms, five fireplaces and sits on five acres.

One more Strait Lane home is an 11,000 square foot estate, sits on 3.5 acres and is priced at $8.6 million. The home has five bedrooms and has room for horses.

The Bushes will be in 'high-dollar country' on Strait Lane. The central appraisal district shows Ross Perot's home appraised at $23.5 million dollars, another home at $13 million, and another at $12 million.

So what do some of the neighbors think about the Bushes moving in? One homeowner said, "As long as they don't bother us I don't mind them on our street."
