Ghosts Said To Haunt Waxahachie Restaurant

Have you ever been to a real haunted house? The owners of the Catfish Plantation Restaurant in Waxahachie say they are ranked as one of the most active paranormal places in the world.
The private home was built in 1895 and in 1984 was turned into The Catfish Plantation Restaurant. It was then that stories started flying about the restaurant being haunted.
"If you look at the pictures, the eyes start looking at you wherever you sit," said Liz Owens who runs Antique Portraits inside the restaurant.
Customers have caught mysterious images with their own cameras and workers have seen the unimaginable. "The knife was up here on the fish racks. It levitated up, came forward and fell into the sink," said Kyle Priddy.
Waitress Suzanne Hamilton claims, "There was an apparition of a man in one of the chairs by the window."
And according to general manager Shawn Sparks, as many as nine spirits roam the former home that was originally built for his family. "Even though they're deceased, they come and visit," Sparks said of his relatives.
The ghost of Carrie Mooney is said to frequently visit the restaurant. "She's the one that likes to move objects and move the wine glasses. She was a very religious person," Sparks said.
The Association for the Study of Unexplained Phenomenon studied the restaurant and certified that it is haunted.
Sparks has also used gadgets to sense the spirits and used radio waves to communicate on what is called a mini-box. He claims, "When they say stuff it's pretty apparent."
If you want to learn more about firsthand accounts, the restaurant has three large binders full of observations from customers who have visited over the years. A 2003 fire destroyed thousands of other observations that were recorded.
But lately there seem to be new observations happening often. "The doors started rattling like someone was trying to get in and no one was on either side," said Sylvia Villarreal who has been a Catfish Plantation customer for 15 years.
