21 Ways How NOT To Look Old

Charla Krupp
(CBS 11 / TXA 21) 1.     Get good skin. Clear of age spots and imperfections. The better your skin, the less makeup you need. You want to the look of radiant skin, not uneven and dull. I like the Olay Definity line because it fights both age spots and wrinkles and the foam moisturizer also comes with an spf 15. It's a three in one!

2.     Manage your wrinkles—moisturize! With great skincare available at mass market retailers, there is no reason to have dry and dehydrated skin which really shows off wrinkles and lines.

3.     Switch from dark to light lipstick. Lose the deep burgundy, wear pink with gloss and you'll light up your face. Dark lipstick bleeds in lip lines and makes your lips look thin—and sad.

4.     Lose the heavy eyeliner. A thin line close to the lash line will help define your eyes—which is where you want people to look.

5.     Whiten your teeth. Dingy yellow and gray teeth are aging. Youthful teeth are white and bright. Whether you do it at home with Crest Whitestrips or at the dentist, just do it.

6.     Cut some bangs…they hide a multitude of beauty sins (lined forehead, receding hairline). Most everyone looks younger and hipper (Y&H) with bangs.

7.     Lighten your hair. Frame your face with highlights…the makeup you never take off.

8.     Lose the red dragon-lady nails. Natural nails in a sheer pink color look younger.

9.     Unmatch your wardrobe. Matchy-matchy suits with bags and shoes will make you look oldie-oldie.

10.    Chic up your eyewear. Granny glasses are for grannies. Choose a cool colored plastic rectangle frame instead for an instantly stylish look.

11.    Don't overbling when dressing for evening. You'll look like you're trying too hard. Follow the 3-bling rule—no more than three bling points per outfit.

12.    Either a completely made-up face or an updo. Don't do both, it's too much.

13.    Toss the nude hose. Instead, wear dark opaques, fishnets or go bare-legged.

14.    Buy a can of leg spray it will cover up all your lumps and bumps, veins and bruises, and make your legs look thinner and better. The best is by Scott Barnes at scottbarnes.com but you can sometimes find the Sally Hansen version in drugstores ($8).

15.    Learn to love shapewear. Don't leave home without your Spanx.

16.    Slip into sexy heels. Shop for stylish heels that don't sacrifice comfort. Check out the Nike Dress Air line from Cole Haan. Or, use foot padding from Foot Petals or Dr. Scholl's or Insolia.

17.    Get measured for a new bra…that will boost your bosom halfway between shoulder and elbow. I recommend Le Mystere's Renaissance for bigger busted women in the book.

18.    Buy the perfect pair of jeans. That give you your best butt ever. The most flattering brands are listed in the book.

19.    Shorten your skirts. Too long looks mumsy. The perfect skirt length is in the back of the knee.

20.    Don't go out of the house in sloppy sweats - unless you are truly going to workout.
