Scattered Storms Continue Across DFW

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Light-to-moderate rain showers continue Thursday, roughly from Tulsa to south and southwest of Waco. At this time, radar estimates rainfall at less than a tenth of an inch. The rain is just some pre-frontal showers with little consequence associated with them.

The cold front is currently on a line from Tulsa to a point between Fredrick, Oklahoma and Wichita Falls, moving to the east. As the front approaches the DFW area, we should see some clearing and a fast warm-up. This will help destabilize the atmosphere. For those reasons, we remain under a Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms.

The fly in the ointment is a cap which shows up nicely from Fort Worth. This could retard development long enough to put the risk a little further east, say east of the Interstate-35 corridor. We will just have to wait and see how it plays out.

In the meantime, the temperatures remain in the upper 70s and the dew points are in the upper 60s to lower 70s, not what you would call a good hair day.

Clearing skies, breezy and cool by Friday morning. Look for lows near 56 degrees.

Friday looks to be sunny and beautiful, with lower humidity and pleasantly mild conditions. Expect a high temperature near 78 degrees.
