Cold Front Pushing Through The Metroplex
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A cold front is pushing through the Metroplex. Winds have shifted to the northwest in Tarrant County, Denton County and the western portion of Collin County.
The front has passed DFW Airport and is moving through Irving and Grand Prairie. Storms are developing along the front from Plano to Cleburne. None of these are severe, just some rain and some lightning.
Behind the front, isolated storms are developing with some being severe and producing hail.
No warnings are currently in effect for North Texas.
Showers and storms continue in Dallas County but well below severe limits. Still some rain in Collin County and a strong storm in Fannin County and Lamar County that might get a warning before it crosses into Oklahoma.
To the west, very quiet with just isolated showers. None are showing any signs of strengthening.
Scattered storms will continue through the afternoon hours along and behind the front. Large hail will be the greatest threat from these storms, as well as some gusty winds. With the cold air undercutting the storms, the likelihood of significant severe weather is low. We will just have some hailers to deal with Tuesday afternoon.
Tuesday night, the cold front will stall to our south, but overrunning clouds and rain will be possible especially south of Interstate-20.
Wednesday, expect cloudy gray skies with showers and storms in our southern counties in the morning. Some of that rain could move into the Metro area depending on how far south the front stalls.
Thursday, the front moves back north and we warm into the 80s. Another cold front arrives either Thursday night or Friday morning. Strong-to-severe storms are possible with this front again.
The rain is likely to clear out Friday evening and Saturday, but guess what front comes back at us on Sunday with cloud cover and some showers?
On Monday, another front is expected to arrive, bringing storms back to the area.
