Severe Thunderstorms Forecast For North Texas
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 News) ―
The cold front made it to southeastern communities (Palestine, Athens, Corsicana) before stalling out and moving back to the north as a warm front. There were scattered showers and thunderstorms over most of North Texas late Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning. Large hail was the primary threat.
Wednesday Storms will be in the area during the morning commute. Some may be severe.
It will not rain from sun-up to sun-down over any location. We will occasionally see storms turn severe during the day on Wednesday, with the biggest threats being large hail and damaging winds.
As the warm front lifts north, we will likely see a period of dry weather during the midday. However, as the day wears on, we will see more and more thunderstorms develop over North Texas.
Once the atmosphere heats back up, isolated supercell thunderstorms will develop. Look for a Tornado Watch at some point on Wednesday, most likely by afternoon.
During the evening and overnight hours, we will see the threat for a few tornadoes go up.
There is a moderate risk for severe weather from the DFW area and points to the north and west. There is a slight risk for severe storms over the rest of North Texas.
Thursday Morning rush hour looks to be messy with widespread heavy rain and strong thunderstorms before 9 a.m. The strongest storms will produce high wind and large hail, and tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
Storms should be east of Dallas by midday, and Thursday afternoon looks dry and sunny.
Into The Weekend The weekend looks mostly sunny and mild. It will be a great looking forecast after our bout with storms Tuesday through Thursday morning.
