Heavy Rain In Parts Of N. Texas
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 News) ―
Heavy rain fell today in parts of North Texas. Some areas of Collin County, especially to the east of McKinney, received more than two inches.
Earlier in the afternoon, delays at DFW Airport were an hour. As of 5:40 p.m., the FAA said delays were about 40 minutes and decreasing.
Showers and thunderstorms developed west and south of the DFW metro area this morning, along with parts of Henderson and Anderson counties to the southeast of DFW.
Rain was heavy at times, with some of these areas picking up more than an inch of rain in a matter of 3 hours.
Our overall chance of severe thunderstorms, producing hail, high wind and/or tornados, is fairly small. But some flash flooding is possible if a storm manages to park itself over an area. The heaviest rainfall totals are forecast to be south of I-20.
TONIGHT:
Rain dies down after sunset and we should see a fairly quiet night. Expect cloudy skies to continue with lows in the upper 60s.
TUESDAY:
A few more thunderstorms are forecast to pop up Tuesday, as warm and humid air overspread the area. It will be windy, with south winds up to 25 or 30 mph. The overall rain chance should be smaller, as the main storm system will still be to our west.
WEDNESDAY:
Expect a line of strong to severe thunderstorms to roll out of west Texas in the morning and move into North Texas during the late morning into the afternoon. We are under a SLIGHT RISK for severe weather Wednesday with large hail and damaging wind possible, along with isolated tornadoes. The storms should be out of North Texas by evening.
