Sudden & Severe Weather Hits North Texas

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 News) ― Scattered thunderstorms rolled through North Texas, packing high winds, lightning and hail.

As the storms raced through Tarrant County, power outages were reported.

Sudden and intense rain hit Downtown Fort Worth. The sky grew dark and quickly filled with lightning.

The downpour also covered Haltom City, high water forced the closure of part of Broadway Avenue.

The winds were severe as well. Forecasters say the gusts were 60 to 70 miles per hour. Power poles and trees were blown over in Haltom City.

"The weather was very high. When I first look out the window and then when I look outside, and I saw the tree fell and hit my car," said Sach Sydavong.

Severe weather caused problems at the Dallas Forth Worth Airport as well. Officials say about 20 flights were cancelled and delays were running up to two hours.
