Four Fronts To Bring Big Weather Changes This Week
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A WET, CLOUDY WEEK
We have a pretty complicated forecast over the next few days where we will be counting how many fronts cross through North Texas. All of those fronts will be potential rain- and storm-makers for us because of the upper level pattern. There is a trough of low pressure sitting over the western third of the country and we are in an area where our upper level winds are coming out of the southwest. This is typically a wet pattern for us when we have fronts hanging around and winds out of the south bringing in Gulf Moisture. Unfortunately, this pattern won't break until Friday evening.
FIRST FRONT ARRIVES TONIGHT
A warm front that is currently draped over Central Texas will lift northward tonight through North Texas. Temperatures will likely hold steady if not warm a few degrees overnight as the warm front passes. Scattered showers and storms will be a possibility during the overnight hours as the front moves north. Severe weather is not expected tonight with storm chances at 30%.
SECOND FRONT GETS HERE TOMORROW
A cold front will be charging into the area during the day tomorrow. Storms will be likely as this front arrives with the possibility of severe weather. Most of North Texas including the metro is in the slight risk for severe weather tomorrow. Damaging winds and hail appear to be our biggest threats. Storms could develop as early as 1 p.m. along the front tomorrow.
THIRD FRONT ON WEDNESDAY
The front that comes through on Tuesday will stall just to our south and come back at us as a warm front on Wednesday. It will be a cloudy day with spotty showers and maybe a few storms. That front will continue to push north of our area on Thursday and we will warm into the mid 80s Thursday.
FOURTH FRONT ON THURSDAY EVENING OR THURSDAY NIGHT
The final front will push into the area either Thursday evening or Thursday night. Storms will be likely along this front with the possibility of severe weather. This front will have a little more punch to it and it will be driven all the way to the Gulf. Behind this front we will see some drier air arrive.
NICE WEEKEND
Right now it appears all the messy weather will depart in time for a nice weekend. It will feel rather fall-like with morning lows in the 50s and afternoon highs in the 70s Saturday, then near 80 on Sunday. We should enjoy pleasant sunshine too!
