Storms Likely Thursday Across North Texas

***FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR THURSDAY EVENING THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING***

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― SEVERE WEATHER AND FLOODING POTENTIAL
It is going to be a bumpy 48 hours across North Texas.  Severe weather will be possible Thursday afternoon and evening, and flooding will be a concern Thursday night.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT
Skies will be cloudy and temperatures will be steady.  Near daybreak, temperatures will slowly rise into the upper 60s and low 70s.  A few spotty showers and drizzle will be possible and some dense fog will be likely in some areas for a few hours.

THURSDAY DAYTIME
Winds increase substantially out of the south to 25 mph, with gusts to 35.  This south wind will bring humid air into North Texas and push temperatures into the mid and upper 80s in a few locations.  The amount of sunshine we get, if any, will play a key role in the potential for severe weather.  If we get some sun, individual storms will develop in the afternoon and evening ahead of the cold front.  These storms will have a good chance of being severe with large hail, damaging winds and the possibility of a few tornadoes.

THURSDAY EVENING AND NIGHT
The storms will continue to increase in coverage and everyone will have several hours of rain and storms.  This will pose a serious flooding threat.  A Flash Flood Watch is already in effect from Thursday evening until Friday morning.  4" to 5" of rain will be possible in some locations.

FRIDAY
Storms will continue through the morning on Friday and shift to the east as we head into the afternoon.  When the rain ends we will see cooler weather arrive for the weekend.

THIS WEEKEND
Temperatures will drop into the low 50s and upper 40s Saturday morning with highs Saturday in the upper 60s and low 70s.  It will be mostly sunny on Saturday, but on Sunday it will be partly to mostly cloudy.  Temperatures will be about the same on Sunday, although there could be some spotty showers and drizzle on Sunday.

OCTOBER SEVERE WEATHER
It is not uncommon to have severe weather in October.  October is considered our secondary severe weather season.
