Storms Forming In Grayson County, Moving South

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 News) ―

Showers and thunderstorms are developing mainly to the north of Dallas and Fort Worth.

The heaviest of the rain and the best coverage is in Grayson County, but showers are starting to develop south into parts of Denton and Collin counties.

Showers also are developing in Jack and Wise counties, as well as, in Hunt County.  None of these storms are severe at the moment.

There is the possibility that a few storms could come close to severe limits later this afternoon.

Severe Thunderstorm Definition

A severe thunderstorm is a storm that produces:
1) Winds greater than 58 mph
2) Hail 0.75" or larger
3) a tornado

High winds and lightning will be our biggest concern with the storms this afternoon.  Coverage on the rain could push 40 percent  but will likely stay in the 20-30 percent  range.
