One Tank Trip: Wildcatter Ranch & Resort
(CBS 11 / TXA 21)
Take a trip back to the Wild West with a 90-minute drive from Fort Worth to Graham.
The Wildcatter Ranch & Resort offers 4,000 acres of landscape and just about every activity you could imagine including the standards canoeing, hiking, fishing and horseback riding, but don't forget about archery, golf or a massage.
Boasting the mix of Western ranch resorts with a luxury hotel suite, the resort has activities for every member of the family. The spa for mom mostly or very sore dads opened in the fall and has 20 spa treatments to suit anyone's needs. Ranch chores, watching cattle branding and fossil hunting are just some of the activities visitors can experience.
"Our mission is to create the most unique guest ranch and resort in the state of Texas, targeting corporate and independent travelers who are interested in natural, historical, and retreat experiences," is the message on the resorts Website.
The North Texas Hill Country serves as the backdrop at the Wildcatter Steakhouse, which sits atop a bluff on the property and serves up mesquite-grilled steaks, barbeque and fresh fish. Of course, western standard menu favorites like chicken fried steak aren't absent. For catering events, the restaurant also can dish out a true "chuck wagon" meal. For those who just can't get away without the technological comforts of home, they still can sip lemonade or enjoy a cup of joe from a rocking chair on a cottage front porch with a laptop nearby. Every room is equipped with TVs, CD/DVD/VHS players and satellite programming and of course, high speed wired and wireless internet access.
With Possum Kingdom Lake adjacent to the ranch, water skiing, swimming, fishing, scuba diving and golf can be added to one's visit.
