Rising Prices Leading To Consumer Coupon Craze
(CBS)
With rising prices from the gasoline pump to the grocery store, many Americans are clipping coupons. And for some the savings are adding up fast.
Alyson Miller is crazy for coupons. "I clip the coupons at night, after the kids go to sleep," the mother of two said.
Miller says she is always looking for ways to save. "Diapers are really expensive. I signed up for Huggies online and every month they send me a little booklet of coupons."
According to the stay-at-home mom all that clipping and printing is paying off. "I save between 25 and 30 dollars every shopping trip," Millers says.
Fashionupdate.com coupon guru Sarah Gardner has a motto - "Never pay retail!" She says retailers are more willing than ever to offer deals that could lead to savings from 10-30 percent.
At sites like Valpak.com, plug in your zip code and a list of stores in your area pop up with printable coupons.
To make sure you're getting the best deal Gardner recommends going to the Pricegrabber.com website and doing some comparison shopping. There you can type in the product name for a list of prices, starting with the best. And once you've found the best price, you can search for even more savings.
Those additional savings may be available on websites like currentcodes.com and couponcraze.com. After entering the name of the store of interest, the sites provide additional discount codes.
Some websites will even e-mail coupons for printing.
