Travel Experts Say Book Now For Holiday Savings
Arezow Doost
DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
With the 100+ degree temperatures we're having lately, Christmas is probably the last thing on your mind.
But travel experts say if you want to leave town this holiday, you should start planning now.
They predict this will be one of the most expensive holiday travel seasons ever.
Fuel prices are forcing airlines to make big cuts in their schedules.
Fewer flights mean you could be charged more for the remaining seats.
Added to that -- travel agents tell us car rental prices are up and so are hotels.
Shannon Chandarlis with Main Street Travel says many people are already booking, because they want to avoid the price hikes that will come as the holidays get closer.
And financial analysts say even if the price of oil drops, as it has a little bit recently, don't expect to see airfares do the same.
