Website Promises Free Help With Moving

Sana Syed
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Moving, it's one of those growing pains so many of us have to go through.

"I've helped several people move... But when it's your turn, you know everything you have to go through," said Harvey Valenzuela.

Valenzuela is moving for the first time in several years. Moving can get expensive. It can physically hurt and Valenzuela did it for free.

"I was like okay… somewhere down here it's going to say it's going to be this much. But no, it was pretty straightforward."

MoveForFree.com is an apartment locating service and a free moving service. They've got competition... But Colleen Kelly says the San Antonio-based business led the movement on getting people into new apartments for free.

"We locate the properties for them and get it all set up for the move."

Apartment complexes give move for free 50% of one month's rent for bringing in a new resident. Kelly says people often worry it's too good to be true.

"They're worried about gimmicks, there being catches and potentially any reason it wouldn't be free. It's not. There are no catches at all."

Move for free operates in several cities across Texas and in the Atlanta, Georgia area. If you move anywhere within the Lone Star State, your move will be completely taken care of. If you move from Texas, they will get you loaded up. If you move to Texas, they will be waiting to unload you.

If move for free helps you find an apartment, but you decide not to use their moving service, they'll give you a hundred-dollar cash voucher.

This 10-year old company is hoping to expand to different states in the near future.

Valenzuela says in a tough economy where every penny counts, this is what people need.

"This is the common folks bailout. It's a great service."
